Project extended: SPP2364 – Autonomous Processes in Particle Technology
The research project „SPP2364“ is a Germany-wide cooperative project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Here, a plethora of different particle processes, relevant in industries such as food, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical, are researched in the context of automatic control. Innovative modeling and control approaches are investigated not only to increase product quality, but also energy and resource efficiency. With the first funding period successfully ending this year, the upcoming second funding period will focus on the expansion to multi step processes.
As part of an FAU-based research group focusing on the closed-loop control of a (melt) emulsification plant, the Chair of Automatic Control is closely cooperating with the Institute of Interfaces and Particle Technology and the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics. The main contribution hereby lies in the development of hybrid process models as well as uncertainty-aware control strategies for the formation of core-shell particles in the second funding period.
